After many years working on my dads market garden in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, working many types of impullments that were good or bad at bringing up the sub-surface and when contract spin spreaders put more lime on the headland than in the paddock, i always knew there had to be a better way. During the summer 2006/07 we grew vegetables with sub-surface drip irrigation, which worked really good on minimal water supply.
About the same time i read about sub-surface drip irrigation in lucurne, i had a look in to it and seeing the great results, I found out there was very few contractors that layer drip-tape. So i started Drip-Tape Laying Services Australia Pty Ltd and brought a Yoemans ripper because its the best you can buy, and set about making it in to a drip-tape layer. While that worked well and the Yoemans did not bring up the sub-surface, the surface was not quite right, so i set about designing and made a press wheel system that gave me a minimal surface disturbance finish. But with the worsening drought no body was doing drip-tape. Seeing what the Yoemans was doing with my press wheels on the back, i thought about fertiliser spreading so i talked to a few people and got a bulk bin made to put on the Yoemans to drop spread fertiliser.
After sub-soil ripping a property at Thornton, Victoria in June 2009, I showed the owner what I wanted to do and he wished i had it all made. So with that I set about making a sub-soil ripper with minimal surface disturbance with a drop spread fertiliser system that spread only where the ripper is working. I have also worked out a way of having bulk loads delivered and put into a container and not dumping the load on the ground. And i registered Eco Sub- Soil Ripping & Bio Fert Spreading. |
